Hinsdale Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 7:47 AM )
Year in and year out, Hinsdale tends to be the destination village in all of the western suburbs. The people who live in Hinsdale want to move up to another Hinsdale house; the people who live near Hinsdale want to move to Hinsdale; the city of Chicago residents (once they start having kids) seek out Hinsdale; executive level families, who relocate here from out-of-state, singularly find Hinsdale to be idyllic.
Western Springs Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:00 AM )
Western Springs is the western-most city in the near western suburbs within Cook County. It's located just east of and adjoining Interstate 294. It's a scenic town, featuring old growth trees and custom homes ranging from turn-of-the-century to new construction.
Clarendon Hills Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:15 AM )
While the villages in the Western Suburbs are generally small, Clarendon Hills, by comparison, is microscopic. The entire town is serviced by two elementary schools (which are in the highly touted Hinsdale District 181, by the way). "Walk to" is a way of life.
Burr Ridge Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:21 AM )
By design, Burr Ridge has a semi-rural ambiance with excellent privacy. It's hard to believe this western suburb is less than 20 miles from Chicago. The minimum lot size is one-half acre. There are no sidewalks. Homes are arranged in a traditional subdivision format.
Oak Brook Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:25 AM )
Oak Brook boasts one of the lowest real estate tax rates in the Chicago Metropolitan area. In part, this is due to the small population (8,000) and large contribution of sales tax revenue (primarily from the ultra-chic regional shopping mall, Oak Brook Center).
Westmont Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:27 AM )
Westmont is a rapidly changing community. If you look at a map, the shape of the town is serpentine. Its northern boundary is north of Ogden Avenue and its southern boundary is south of 63rd street.
Downers Grove Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:30 AM )
Compared to the other towns in Chicago's western suburbs, Downers Grove is large (population right around 50,000). Essentially, it's two towns in one. The northern section of town features large trees, both very old and very new custom homes, and the "walk to" downtown and train lifestyle similar to the towns located east of Downers Grove.
LaGrange Real Estate
( 07/01/2007 8:41 AM )
LaGrange is a near western suburb with the most vibrant downtown - hands down! In fact, the central business district's catch phrase is "Ahh LaGrange." In addition to having a short drive into downtown Chicago (about 20 miles), there are two Metra train stations servicing this town.
