Elmhurst
Elmhurst is an affluent near-western suburb, conveniently located for those who works in one of the three major employment centers in the Chicago metropolitan area. These areas are downtown Chicago, Oak Brook and Schaumburg. Elmhurst is the only upper middle class community which offers shear convenience of commuting to all three on an equal basis. There is a 20 minute commute to O’Hare International Airport and 30 minutes to Midway Airport. Elmhurst borders Interstate 294, Route 83, Interstate 290 and North Avenue, all of which are major arterial roadways easing the commute.
Elmhurst is over 8 miles long. As a result, there are many subtleties to each of its neighborhoods. However, the “center of town” has historically been a popular destination for home buyers, whether they seek new construction or turn-of-the-century homes.
There is a large and popular downtown area featuring restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.
The public school system is well regarded and high scoring. The anchor of which is the York Community High School, which has recently been expanded and renovated.
