Oak Brook boasts one of the lowest real estate tax rates in the Chicago Metropolitan area. In part, this is due to the small population (8,000) and large contribution of sales tax revenue (primarily from the ultra-chic regional shopping mall, Oak Brook Center). Homes are arranged by subdivision, some of which are gated. Privacy is excellent as the minimum lot size is one-half acre. There are no sidewalks. The custom built homes are executive level.
